The U.S. Division of Agriculture (USDA) introduced Wednesday that it has signed a cooperative settlement to permit the Kentucky Division of Agriculture (KDA) to acquire meals via the federal Native Meals Buy Help Cooperative Settlement Program.
The transfer permits KDA to buy and distribute regionally grown, produced and processed meals via underserved producers.
“Kentucky’s wealthy agricultural land doesn’t shield its residents from meals insecurity,” stated Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles. “With one in seven Kentuckians, together with one in six kids, going through a meals battle, we’re extraordinarily excited for the alternatives this grant presents.
